Is my modem v92 upgradable? Do I need
v92?
v.90 is a standard to allow your isp to send you data at 56k, but you could still only upload data to the server at 33.6.
The newly release standard v.92 is a completely new standard from Rockwell/USR which allows:

A completely NEW chip is required, therefore your old modem will not be v.92 upgradable.
While the v.90 standard is in final developement you will start to see new modems, which use the new chip, sold as "v.92 ready!", and when the standard has been throughly tested and implemented by your ISP, you will be able to download some new firmware to this modem to upgrade it to v.92!
